Pragnesh Patel was appointed chairperson and Ankit Rathod vice-chairperson of Ahmedabad Municipal School Board on 21 October 2026, according to The Times of India’s following-day report. The appointments followed the end of Sujay Mehta’s term and a reported two-month delay. They established the board’s new leadership, rather than an announcement of new school funding or curriculum changes.
The result followed earlier discussion of the names
Gujarat Samachar’s 21 October preview had identified Patel and Rathod as the names under consideration before the committee’s first meeting. It described a 15-member body, comprising 12 members elected unopposed and three subsequently nominated by the state government.
That preview alone would not have been enough to report the appointments as completed. The Times of India’s 22 October account supplied the subsequent outcome and said a meeting chaired by mayor Hitesh Barot had finalised the decision. The distinction is between an expected selection and a reported appointment, not two separate political developments for publication quotas.
The board’s work concerns municipal primary schools
Gujarat Samachar described the committee’s responsibilities as the administrative and academic functioning of Ahmedabad’s municipal primary schools. The Times of India also identified Ahmedabad City district education officer Rohit Chaudhari among the state-nominated members.
The confirmed change concerned leadership of that municipal institution. It should not be read as a change in the management of every school in Ahmedabad or as a replacement for the state’s wider education administration. The article makes no claim that private schools acquired new rules because these office-bearers were selected.
An appointment and a school decision are different records
For parents and teachers, the next substantive information would be the board’s actual decisions: what it approved, which municipal schools were affected and when a measure would take effect. A leadership announcement does not, by itself, change admission conditions, classroom provision or repair schedules.
The cited reports did not establish a new policy package adopted by the incoming office-bearers. This archive therefore records the appointments and the composition context without inventing promises, biographical details or a programme of achievements for either appointee.
The historical cut-off is the morning of 22 October, after the outcome report. Earlier expectations are identified as expectations, and later board resolutions or school outcomes are not brought into this account.
