Start with the institution
We prefer official Parliament, legislature, election-authority and local-body records. Attributed secondary compilations, including PRS Legislative Research, are used where identified. Each profile field or source group links to its publisher; a link is not an endorsement.
Match the person before the record
Names alone are insufficient for identity matching. We use institutional identifiers and supporting office, constituency, state and source context. Duplicate rows and unresolved same-seat or portrait conflicts are withheld rather than guessed.
Keep different kinds of status separate
An election winner, sitting roster member, former member and person named in an undated directory are different records. Party values reflect the cited source. A missing name is not automatically a vacancy, resignation or disqualification.
Respect the reporting period
Attendance, questions, debates and bills relate to the chamber and period supplied by their source. An explicit source zero can be displayed; a missing field or ministerial exception is not scored as zero. Participation totals are not an effectiveness ranking.
Authentic images, clear attribution
Portraits come from identity-matched source records. Native dimensions and attribution remain available; small originals are not described as HD. We do not generate faces or upscale an image and call it a verified HD original.
Maps need context
The atlas is a navigation and classification aid on a cited historical boundary reference. It is not an official boundary, delimitation or constituency-winner map. CM-party colouring is distinct from coalition evidence; territories without elected legislatures have a separate category.
Show the limits
Council and local-government coverage is partial. Source availability varies and institutions can lag real-world changes. Original reporting dates and legislative term dates are retained where they are part of the record; import timestamps are not presented as evidence of accuracy.
Make corrections traceable
A correction request should identify the page, the disputed field and stronger supporting evidence. Material changes need an explanatory note; a publisher-side change is distinguished from an IndianVoter transcription error. See our Corrections Policy.
