Lucknow: The BJP has scheduled its Awadh-region foot march in Lucknow for November 3, with Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced as its leader. The planned event is part of the party’s response to the opposition campaign over electoral-roll revision. As of this report, it is an announced programme, not a completed march.

What is confirmed for Lucknow?

The Indian Express’ November 1 report identifies Lucknow as the venue for the Awadh regional march and names Chouhan as the leader. The Times of India’s October 30 account separately reports the same city, date and participating minister. The programme was set out around the BJP’s state working-committee meeting in Lucknow.

The reports reviewed do not provide a verified starting point, finishing point or police traffic-diversion order for the Lucknow event. Those details should not be inferred from the route of a march in another city. Residents planning journeys should look for a specific local police advisory before changing their route.

A mobilisation target is not an attendance count

The Indian Express reports a party target of at least 25,000 people at each regional event. The Times of India attributes a similar expectation to state general secretary for organisation Dharampal Singh. These are planning figures from organisers, not independently counted participants in an event that has already happened.

The party’s stated campaign theme is to defend democracy and oppose what it calls anarchy. Its criticism is aimed at the opposition’s allegations about the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The description of the opposition campaign as misleading is the BJP’s position; announcing a foot march does not settle the underlying dispute.

How the city event fits the wider programme

Lucknow is one stop in a six-region plan scheduled for November 3–5. The Indian Express also identifies Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Kanpur and Ghaziabad as venues. This article counts only the specific announced Lucknow development as city coverage.

The Times of India describes accompanying plans for booth-level organisation and outreach to voters. Those plans explain the organisational setting of the march; they should not be presented as new municipal services or completed civic projects. The public tests for the Lucknow programme will be whether it takes place as announced, what participants and leaders say, and what verified local arrangements are issued.
