BENGALURU: The city’s final electoral roll listed 59,08,151 voters after the Special Intensive Revision, according to an October 28 report citing Greater Bengaluru Authority election officials. That was about 43% below the 1,03,88,363 recorded on June 16.

The final list covered 28 Assembly constituencies across the five city corporations. It included 28,67,256 male voters, 30,40,221 female voters and 674 voters recorded in the third-gender category.

Officials said 2,74,372 voters were added after the draft stage, while 65,881 names were deleted and 1,81,053 entries underwent modification or correction. Those draft-to-final changes are different from the much larger comparison with the June electorate and should not be confused with it.

Bengaluru South had the largest electorate, at 4,41,232, while Rajajinagar had the smallest, at 1,13,833, the report said.

The scale of revision makes the final list an important document for residents ahead of civic elections. The aggregate numbers alone do not establish whether an individual deletion was correct or incorrect; that requires examination of the voter’s record and the relevant electoral procedure.
