As a research scholar, I was the recipient of the AIC (Australia-India Council) Fellow award (2004) and obtained my Doctorate from the University of Madras (2010) My first collection of poems Enjottu Penn has been awarded Sirpi Literary Prize (2004). My collection of poems Vanapechi has been awarded Aelathi Ilakia Virudhu (2008) and Tirupoor Tamil Sanga Virudhu (2009) My poetry collection has been included in Tamil Literature Syllabus at various Colleges & Universities I am the recipient of the prestigious Pavendhar Bharathidasan Virudhu (2009) by the Tamil Nadu State Government - Kalaignar Porkizhi Award (2013) by BAPASSI for contribution to Tamil Poetry - Justice M.M. Ismail Memorial Award (2017) by Kamban Kazhagam, Chennai. Dr. Vedagiri Shanmugam Prize which is awarded to the successful Ph.D scholar of Research Departments at Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai.
