The election
repository review.
· 55 unique repositories from 59 supplied links. Duplicate entries were reviewed once.
No repository is cleared for code reuse. This is static triage of 55 repository trees, 50 available README files, 80 readable execution/dependency configuration files (one additional file was rejected as non-UTF-8) and 20 selected source files. No third-party repository code was installed, run, or copied into this build. The absence of a detected pattern is not proof that a repository is malware-free.
What we are building from the ideas
- Data atlas: state/UT navigation, historical election aggregates and original-source links.
- Citizen journeys: original, deterministic guidance and a browser-only checklist linked to official ECI services. No generated procedural answers.
- Transparency: visible coverage, missing data, source dates and a correction-ready record model.
- Next data work: verify and import constituency results, then build candidate comparison and historical turnout using consistent election and boundary identifiers.
Security observations and release gate
- IndiaStats enables lifecycle scripts and executes migrations during its Docker build. Its tracker and seed route were spot checked; external analytics and seed authorization need a dedicated audit.
- IndianVotingAssistant pins legacy Flask/Werkzeug and its setup script uses privileged package installation. Those commands were not run.
- VoteReady and Dastavez have postinstall generation hooks. These are execution surfaces, not by themselves evidence of malware.
- Some repositories bundle dependencies, executable archives, OCR material or synthetic voter records. These assets were not executed, imported, or certified.
- Missing or unclear licence metadata blocks code/data reuse until the exact grant is verified. A README badge alone is insufficient.
- Before future reuse: pin the exact commit; inspect the entire relevant source and scripts; verify file hashes and licence notices; resolve and scan all locked dependencies and optional adapters; run signature/SAST scans and isolated behavior tests with no credentials; check external destinations; approve only the reviewed files.
Limits: no antivirus signature engine, sandbox detonation, resolved transitive dependency vulnerability audit, or binary inspection was performed. Selected source samples did not reveal a confirmed malware payload, but all repositories remain quarantined from production reuse. Application logic added here is original and has no package dependencies.
